3 RIVERS COMICON COMES TO DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH

Pittsburgh, Pa – David L. Lawrence Convention Center – Local comic book convention moves to new home for 5th year event. 

3 Rivers Comicon, a local convention brings the best in the comic book industry to David L. Lawrence Convention Center this May 30-31, 2020. This family friendly event brings together artists, writers, creators, and some of the best vendors in the country to this annual event they are putting the COMICs back in comicon. 3 Rivers Comicon features more than just comic books, other guests include, cosplay models, a 66 Batboat, and vendors who deal in everything from toys to tee shirts to nerdy craft items. There are panels for people to sit in on and get industry tips about kickstarting your project or even hear a creative team talk about a project they worked on that was part of comic book history. If that is not enough, they also have a convention beer, commissioned specifically for this event, from local brewery Shubrew out of Zelienople, Pa. This special beer will feature a custom label by a show guest, to be announced soon.

“We always knew the day would come when we would grow the convention and make the move to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center”, says Todd McDevitt, owner of 3 Rivers Comicon. “With the tremendous amount of support we received from all arenas in the comic book industry, that expansion comes much sooner than we expected. We owe a tremendous thanks to all of our supporters of the last 4 years to make this escalation a reality.”

Promoter, Jon Engel says “The show has been growing every year. We were seeing a lot of opportunities in the growth and we decided to take the leap to move the show to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. We are all very excited to be there and embrace Pittsburgh as our home.”

New Dimension Comics’ 3 Rivers Comicon to Feature Custom Shubrew Brewing Beer For 5 Years.

3 Rivers Comicon, hosted by New Dimension Comics, continues it’s tradition of a custom beer to be featured at the comic convention. With a long, bright future ahead, Shubew in Zelienople has partnered with them to produce this specialty beer for years to come.

“I have been fortunate to have a front row seat to witness, and taste, the great work Shubrew has done.”, says Todd McDevitt who is owner of New Dimension Comics and promoter of 3 Rivers Comicon. “I’m excited to partner with Shubrew to bring comic-centric custom beers to life for many comicons to come.”

“When Todd approached me, I told him I needed more equipment to keep up with demand to even consider brewing for him. Ultimately, he agreed to sponsor a new frementer to get his convention beer to happen.”, says Zach Shumaker, founder and head brewer of Shubrew.

The exclusive beer will be a Russian Imperial Stout brewed with maple and coffee. The beer will be canned and with an ABV with a goal of aging well. This beer will only be made exclusively for 3 Rivers Comicon and New Dimension Comics.
