My name is Jem Ceccarelli, and I dabble in many kinds of art, both textile and graphic, though I primarily focus on sewn goods, particularly those of a plush nature. If you can dream it up, I want to figure out a way to make it! Thus far I’ve had the pleasure of selling internationally; being a returning vendor at my hometown convention, Tekko; and being recognized for my work by Junichi Matsuda of Pokemon franchise fame.
I don’t think there was ever a time when I wasn’t creating in some form or another. As a young child, when my grandparents would babysit me, Nonno and I would spend whole afternoons on projects from craft books. But the credit for my interest in sewing goes to my mom; all of what I know now is built on what she taught me.
I’m Kat Baker of thebakkat. As a self-trained artist, I’ve been drawing for as long as I could hold a pencil, though I largely kept my art a secret until I had graduated from senior high. But in college I found that drawing around and for other people was a rewarding experience. It made me happy – so now I wish to spread that feeling of happiness with others by creating pieces that others will enjoy!
Although I now deal mainly in digitally-created art, my inspiration remains rooted in childhood interests like Pokemon. Nowadays there’s also a pinch of pop culture too, but it never loses sight of the warmth it came from.
