Gregory A. Wilsonis Professor of English at St. John’s University in New York City, where he teaches creative writing, fantasy fiction and science fiction along with various other courses in literature. In addition to academic books and journal articles, he is the author of the epic fantasy The Third Sign, the graphic novel Icarus, and the dark fantasy Grayshade. He also has short stories in a number of anthologies, most recently the Mystery!anthology from Down & Out Books, and has several projects forthcoming in 2019.
With two-time Hugo finalist John Helfers, he is in the planning stages for a political speculative fiction anthology, with a number of well-known authors already on board. He co-hosts (with Mike Underwood) the critically acclaimed Speculate! The Podcast for Writers, Readers, and Fans(speculatesf.com) podcast, recently transitioning to an actual play TTRPG show, which is in its ninth year of production and backed through Patreon. He has written three articles for the SFWA Bulletinand is a member of the Gen Con Writers’ Symposium and other author groups on and offline. He is regularly invited to speak on panels, conduct workshops, and read from his work at conventions and conferences nationally and internationally.
In addition to his work in teaching and writing, Wilson is also the lead singer and trumpet player for the progressive rock band The Road(thebandtheroad.com), which just released its third album Five Years Later, follow-up to its critically acclaimed album Monomyth, a finalist for Progawards Best Foreign Record. Finally, under the moniker Arvan Eleron, he is the host of a successful Twitch channel focused on story and narrative in gaming, with several sponsored TTRPG campaigns.
He lives with his wife Clea, daughter Senavene, and son Calen—both children named at his wife’s urging for characters in The Third Sign, for which he believes they have forgiven him—in Riverdale, NY. His virtual home is gregoryawilson.com.
